MSR Simulation with cGEMS: Fission Product Release and Aerosol Formation

چکیده

The release of fission products and fuel materials from a molten-salt fast-reactor in hypothetical accident conditions was investigated. fast reactor this investigation features neutron spectrum, operating the thorium cycle, it uses LiF-ThF4-UF4 as salt. A coupling between severe code MELCOR thermodynamical equilibrium solver GEMS, so-called cGEMS, with updated HERACLES database used modeling work. work carried out frame EU SAMOSAFER project. At beginning simulation, salt is assumed to be drained bottom confinement building. containment atmosphere nitrogen. are heated by decay heat, due heating, they evaporated surface molten pool. chemical system included following elements: Li, F, Th, U, Zr, Np, Pu, Sr, Ba, La, Ce, Nd. In addition radioactive salt, formation aerosols vapor-phase species modeled were determined.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Modeling Aerosol Formation in an Electrically Heated Tobacco Product

Philip Morris International (PMI) is developing a range of novel tobacco products with the potential to reduce individual risk and population harm in comparison to smoking cigarettes. One of these products is the Tobacco Heating System 2.2 (THS 2.2), (named as the Electrically Heated Tobacco System (EHTS) in this paper), already commercialized in a number of countries (e.g., Japan, Italy, Switz...

Actinide and Fission Product Partitioning

In Japan, R&D activities for partitioning and transmutation (P&T) have been promoted under the OMEGA programme for more than 15 years. These activities were reviewed by the Atomic Energy Commission in Japan in 2000. In accordance with the results of the review, three institutes, the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI), the Japan Nuclear Cycle Development Institute (JNC) and the Centr...

Protein thiyl radical reactions and product formation: a kinetic simulation

Protein thiyl radicals are important intermediates generated in redox processes of thiols and disulfides. Thiyl radicals efficiently react with glutathione and ascorbate, and the common notion is that these reactions serve to eliminate thiyl radicals before they can enter potentially hazardous processes. However, over the past years increasing evidence has been provided for rather efficient int...
